All Hail Alexander McQueen

Hey guys! So I was looking at alllacqueredup.com and I was reading her new post about the Butter London fall collection. The inspiration for this collection is from the late and legendary Alexander McQueen. I've always looked up to his talent in fashion and to me, there is no better way to truly appreciate your gratitude towards a person by capturing their essence in a color. Why? You ask. Well, if you really think about a person you know and love...what color would they be? Would they be glittery? Matte? Neon? Red? Blue? The list goes on and on. Don't be frontin' I know you're thinking about it now. Anyways, the color All Hail McQueen from the collection didn't really stand out to me. After all, at first glance it just looks like another boring nude color. Don't get me wrong, nude nail polish is a great look...but not every one (including me) can pull it off. I've tried EVERY kind of nude and light pink. I even made my own nude polish once by adding my Bobbi Brown loose powder to clear nail polish and painting it on. I hated it! I hated it so much in fact I took it off even before it even had a chance to dry. Once again I'm WAY of topic. When I visited butter london's site, I naturally skipped over All Hail McQueen because by the looks of it, it looked like something my Grandma would wear. I read a description of the color because the picture online didn't do it justice and I'll admit, i was a little curious. It described the color as a champagne pink nude base with holographic glitter in it. Now that's more my speed. I didn't even see the glitter in the picture on the website. Low and behold, the lovely blog all lacquered up already had posted about said color. I looked at the pictures of All Hail McQueen and I instantly fell in love. I need this color!!! The glitter is so tastefully done. It isn't chunky and kid like. No, instead it's fine and understated except at the same time absolutely gorgeous. Like many glitter polishes I've tried, the best seller Almost Famous by OPI for Sephora included, the color was sheer, streaky, and the glitter slid down my nail and settled at my cuticles. Not to mention, most glitters are a b**** to remove. Butter london has great formulas so I know removal won't be an issue. Plus you have a base color so even if the glitter is a little annoying to remove, the nude base color will help. I really hope to purchase this before it sells out! I recommend you do too! I'll hopefully post a swatch of it on soon! Thanks!

White Nail Polish..Hot or Not?

Last week, I was on Twitter when Kim Kardashian posted a picture of her new manicure. She had gotten her nails done white. I've worn white nail polish a lot in the past but it always looked a little like white out. I find that the three white polishes I've tried have come out streaky or they just stay gummy and never dry. Don't you hate when that happens? Anyways, I decided to give white polish another try. A couple weeks back I bought White on White by China glaze along with Yellow Polka Dot Bikini. I love wearing neon colors but I always want them as bright as they are in the bottle. The only way I can achieve the most extreme brightness is by putting a base coat of white underneath. I did't pay much attention to the white when I bought it. After all, I was just using it as an under coat, but when I went to paint my nails a bright purple yesterday, I figured I would give the new white a try. I was amazed! It went on without streaks, and dried relatively quickly. I decided against putting the purple polish on top of the white because it looked so pretty. I got away with using two coats of white along with a base coat of clear underneath and gloss coat on top. I am new to the China Glaze brand and except for a blue green polish I bought that comes of in sheets as you've see in one of my previous videos, every nail polish I've purchased from them is great! If you're looking for the perfect fresh and clean summer nail polish, White on White from China Glaze is your best option!

Hey Everyone!

This is my FIRST blog post so bear with me. I wanted to wait until 500 subscribers to start a blog, but I couldn't wait...so here it is! Now, you're probably asking, "Robin, what exactly is this blog going to consist of?" Well, I'm still figuring that out myself. I'll definitely have lots of nail related posts as well as cooking (per request). I guess the whole point of this blog is to let my subscribers (you) get to know me on a more personal level. I feel like a lot of gurus on YouTube right now don't really tell you what's going on in their life outside of their videos. I remember watching a juicytuesday video and she was like "Hey guys, I moved!" and bam, she was in another house. I wish she would have told us more about what was going on in her life rather than just telling us about it after the fact. Anyways, as you can see I still go off on side stories on here as well as in my videos. Speaking of my videos, for those of you wondering, No! This blog will NOT affect my amount of videos I make and post. I just feel it's easier to update you guys on here rather than making, uploading, editing, and posting a video about why I haven't posted lately. So here's my blog, I hope you enjoy it!
